An indication of whether a PERSON is disabled.

This can be either a:

  • Registered Disability:
    • where a PERSON is registered as disabled with their Local Authority; or

  • Perceived Disability:
    • an indication of whether the PERSON considers themself to be disabled.

Under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), a disabled PERSON is defined as "someone who has a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on his or her ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities". See the Directgov website.
