Although designed primarily as a screening and severity measure for Generalised Anxiety Disorder, the Generalised Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire can also be used to screen and monitor for three other common anxiety disorders:
- panic disorder
- social anxiety disorder and
- post-traumatic stress disorder.
The index scores are as follows:
|0 - 4||No Anxiety|
|5 - 10||Mild Anxiety|
|11 - 15||Moderate Anxiety|
|15 - 21||Severe Anxiety|
If one or two values are missing from the score, then they can be substituted with the average score of the non-missing items. Questionnaires with more than two missing values should be disregarded.
The recommended cut off score for the (seven item) Generalised Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire is 7, so a PERSON scoring 8 or above will be considered to be suffering from clinically significant anxiety symptoms.
