A Person Stop Smoking Episode is a period of time during which a PERSON attempts to stop smoking as a result of structured stop smoking interventions, delivered by Stop Smoking Service staff trained to National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training level 2 standard or equivalent. During this time, it is expected that the PERSON will set an Intended Smoking Quit Date.
- ends 28 days after their specified Intended Smoking Quit Date (or within 25 to 42 days of the Intended Smoking Quit Date) when it is confirmed that the PERSON:
- has stopped smoking
- has not been successful or
- are lost to follow up (where the PERSON could not be contacted at four weeks (within 25 to 42 days )).
